Mnet’s upcoming project, ‘Produce 48,’ will finally take off its veil in May.

An official from the entertainment industry reported to DailySports on March 20 that “all the contestants for ‘Produce 48’ have been confirmed. They will start shooting the program at the beginning of next month.”

‘Produce 48’ will have all girl-contestants. The difference between its original seasons is that they have expanded the opportunity to trainees in Japan. They held an audition for trainees from Korean agencies as well as members from AKB48. It has been 6 months since the first teaser release at last year’s MAMA festival.

‘Produce 48’ is a combination of ‘Produce 101,’ where public chooses members from a pool of trainees as a debut group, and Yasushi Akimoto’s ‘Idols You Can Meet.’

Producer An Jun-yeong will be in charge of the production, continuing his reign from Produce 101 season 1 and 2. The decision regarding how the voting process will proceed hasn’t been clarified yet.
