After it surpassed 2,500,000 signs, the Blue House responded. The government promised to increase the strength of punishment for what is now known as, the “revenge porn.”

The Blue House answered the petition in a video featuring the Minister of Justice, Park Sang-Gi. In the video, Minister Park responded to two petitions – the punishment of “revenge porn” and drunk driving. He said, “revenge porn is a serious crime that has a capability to destroy the victim’s life and their family’s.”

He continued, “the Ministry of Justice have previously ordered the prosecutors to demand the maximum penalty allowed by the law for the dissemination of illegal filming. At this time, we promise to work together with related organizations to better enforce the law and improve the system.”

Furthermore, Park provided the statistics of the dissemination of illegal filming for the past 4 years and explained the original punishment for such a crime. At the end, he admitted the insufficiency of the punishment, and acknowledged the need to increase its strength.

Meanwhile, the police have recently requested an arrest warrant for Goo Hara’s ex-boyfriend Choi Jong-Beom regarding charges of blackmailing and others.

After the singer filed an official legal complaint against her ex-boyfriend for Special Act on Punishment of Sexual Violence, as well as other charges, the police searched Choi’s work and personal places and confiscated his phone and flash drive. At the end, they determined that Choi did not leak the tape, but still considered his action as a serious injury charge.

Regarding the request of arrest warrant, the legal representative of Goo said, “we have no further comment regarding the case.”
