On May 19, a Netflix official announced they canceled their planned Korean drama starring Lee Jong-suk and Kim Ji-won. Additionally, The news came on the same day as the first script reading, adding to the surprise.

Explaining the situation, the official said that the company is always discussing different projects to provide ultimate entertainment experience for subscribers. In this case, “See You Again” was just another of those projects. Unfortunately, the various parties involved could not reach a workable agreement.

However, a netizen claiming to be a Netflix staff member had a different take on the situation. This netizen blamed actor Lee Jong-suk for the show’s cancellation in an online post written on May 20. The staff wrote that Netflix decommissioned the drama because Lee scaped his appearance on the eve of the script reading.

The poster lamented the cancellation and complained about being “unemployed in a day.” Further, they wrote about drinking with other staff members that evening because of the unfortunate news.

In response, an official from Lee’s agency said that they had already refused the role. While they had seriously considering the drama, they never reached a contract. Once they delivered their decision not to accept the proposed role that was the end of their involvement in the project.

As such, Lee and his agency were unaware of the situation thereafter. This includes the script reading and whether Netflix contracted other actors. Moreover, the official said that they are troubled that such claims have emerged given that they were in “the process of simple consideration.”

Meanwhile, the original post by the alleged staff member has since been deleted.
