Jang Keuk-suk actually has a long history of practicing benevolence and altruism. While attending Hanyang University as a student, he donated about 1.2 Billion Won (1.14 million in USD) as a scholarship for students of Hanyang University. To thank his generosity, Hanyang University had named the scholarship a “Jang Keun-Suk Scholarship” and engraved his name on the school’s Hall of Fame.

To further their appreciation, Hanyang University appointed Jang Keun-suk as a special professor. For the first time in Korea, they established a “Philanthropy” elective and invited Jang Keun-suk as a lecturer. As a professor, Jang Keun-suk shared his experiences with volunteering and donating. Furthermore, he hoped that by sharing his own personal experiences, he could inspire young students to get engaged in the culture of philanthropy.
