“Skinny models can become the subject of idolization while plus-size models can become role models to the average people.”

Korean plus size models Yeom Yoon-hye proudly says, motivating people of all size to love themselves.

In the society which does not yield room for variety, these plus-size models prove that beauty is not something that’s achieved by following social standards.

Kim Gee-yang

Started her career as the first Korean model to walk Full Figured Fashion Week’s runway, Kim Ji-yang is a model, a businesswoman, and a social activist who endeavors for the society where various people are respected for their varieties.

Her fashion magazine and clothing brand 66100, which pursues beauty regardless of size, speaks about the infinite possibility beyond the size.

Yeom Yoon-hye

Last year, Yeom became the proud winner of Plus Size Model Contest held by J Style, one of the leading plus size clothing brands in the country. Having become the model of the brand by winning the top position among 170 contestants, Yeom is finding her true beauty by trying various styles she’d unconsciously avoided before modeling.

Her modeling does not only present various styles going well with curves, but also give opportunities for people to love every bit of their bodies.

Bae Kyo-hyun

Even though Bae won the second spot in the contest mentioned above, her passion for the career led her to the social media manager position for the brand. Through the brand Instagram account, Bae shares snaps behind the scene.

“I want to let people know of the variety of beauty by actively working as a plus-size model,” says Bae, smiling both in front of and behind the camera.

Jeon Ga-young
