2018 MAMA is almost upon us!
On October 14, Mnet released the first teaser regarding “2018 Mnet Asian Music Awards,” confirming the three locations, dates, and the theme. The awards will begin in Seoul on December 10, continuing onto Japan and Hong Kong each on December 12 and 14.
Furthermore, this year is the 10th anniversary of Mnet Asian Music Awards (hereafter MAMA). For their 10th award ceremony, Mnet has chosen the story of Icarus from the Greek Mythology as its concept.
Whereas many people view Icarus as someone who as foolish enough to dare flying too close to the sun with waxen wings. However, MAMA looked at the story from a different perspective, where Icarus was someone brave enough to push his limits. With this concept, MAMA hoped to deliver a message of unwavering passion that encourages someone to pursue after their dreams.
For the past 10 years, MAMA featured various artists, who have restlessly challenged themselves to pursue their dreams of becoming an artist. On top of that, the passion from their fans to support the artists, as well as becoming one through music will go along very well with the theme of “Icarus.”
Meanwhile, the voting for different categories at 2018 MAMA will begin on November 1 at 6PM, KST. It will continue until midnight of December 9 on the official website of Mnet.
